This popular meeting spot in downtown Terre Haute, Indiana resides in a historic building constructed in 1900. Several other businesses found their home here prior to the pub, including a pharmacy, cigar store and grocery store. The building was purchased by the Fogg brothers in the 1920’s and converted into a cafe.

In 1933, George Sonka, a railroad worker of Romanian descent, purchased the building at the corner of Wabash and 14th Street and opened the George Sonka Cafe. After his passing a short three years later, the business remained in the family for some time to come.

In the years that followed, the cafe has passed through many hands, and has become the Sonka Irish Pub & Cafe inspired by the Irish heritage of the last four owners. The pub has become a Terre Haute favorite meeting spot, especially on St. Patrick’s Day and during the Indiana State University homecoming festivities. Even the local canines get to enjoy the inviting atmosphere of the pub, as dogs are welcomed patrons as well.

The artwork is printed on quality matte art paper.  A nice gift for the history buff or anyone who has great memories of Indiana.  Start your collection today!
